Infuse form and function to the front yard with a new planting area
A new planting area infuses form and function to the front yard of a home in Maple Grove, Minnesota. An avid gardener, the homeowner wanted to update the planting area to freshen up the yard, while saving a favorite tree. A raised planter made with the Anchor™ LedgeWall™ retaining wall system creates a country-garden style for the yard, while adding architectural interest.
The original landscape, which surrounds a corner of the home’s distinctive glass-walled sunroom, consisted of overgrown shrubbery and landscaping rock. The landscape is visible from the street and includes a stone path that leads from the home’s main entrance to the sunroom door. To revive the landscape, the homeowner wanted an accent planter to wrap around the sunroom’s outside edge with plants that didn’t obscure the view from the sunroom.
The new landscape incorporates LedgeWall™ products to create
While the homeowner chose to hire a contractor to install the LedgeWall™ retaining wall system, the product is ideally suited for do-it-yourselfers, given its light weight and Anchorinvented rear-lip locator that make installation fast and easy. Plus, the LedgeWall product gives the detailed appearance of dry-stacked natural stone walls without all the work.
The project is an excellent example of how just one simple hardscape element can update the entire look of a yard. The homeowner could not be more pleased to have a dazzling front yard garden planter to show off flowers, plants and a favorite tree. Now that’s curb appeal.
